Family Support Services
What We do
- Identify and assess the needs of students and families to connect them with appropriate resources, services, and programs.
- Partner with Sunrise Centers to refer all unmet needs of students and families.
- Monitor and track the effectiveness of interventions and services provided to students and families to reduce chronic absenteeism and prevent dropouts.
Services We Provide
- Basic Needs Support: Assistance with food, clothing, supplies, and hygiene products to ensure students can focus on their education without worrying about fundamental needs.
- Attendance and Dropout Prevention: Interventions aimed at increasing school attendance, reducing chronic absenteeism, and preventing dropouts through targeted support and engagement.
- Specialized Programs: Tailored programs addressing the unique needs of special student populations, such as military-connected students, pregnant and parenting students, and children of incarcerated parents.
- Service Providers and Partnerships: Increase network of partners to bring additional resources and services to students and their families.
Immediate Service Connectors
- Universal SAF System District-wide Student Assistance Form (SAF) used to request help for students and their families that prompts specialists to connect and provide immediate resources.
- On-Demand Access: Provide real-time assistance to navigate various support services for health and transportation requests.
- Unmet Needs Coordination: Refer all unmet needs to the Sunrise Centers for student and family support as part of the HISD Continuum of Care.
- Ongoing Community Partner Engagement: Engage and collaborate with valued community partners to support students.
